Senior Adult Ministry


Purpose:

Senior adult ministry exists to provide opportunity for discipleship through Bible study, fellowship through monthly activities, and compassion towards others through various service projects.

 

Vision:

We exist to connect senior adults together in order to help them love God, love people and impact the world for Jesus Christ.

 

Goals:

Connection points

  • 2Half program is for adults (married or single) who are not yet retired-empty nesters looking to meet like adults and do life together. 2Half will connect you with other adults for the purpose of building a legacy of loving God, loving people and impacting the world as a disciple of Christ. 2Half will help you find an enjoyable way to use your talent with others in ministry. The whole experience will move you from success to significance. Such as:

  1. Short term overnight or longer mission projects.

  2. Service project or ministry in the Discover & Dublin communities.

  3. Relationship activities with each other involving local and travel opportunities.

  • Young At Heart program is for retired adults wanting less active fellowship, mutual support and helpful service to each other and to Discover Christian Church.

1. Monthly lunch meeting after 2nd Worship at DCC.

2. Weekly Bible Study in DCC Chapel @ 2 PM with David Huddle.

3. Monthly service projects such as; Connection 2nd Thurs. at 10:30 AM @ DCC.

4. Occasional Retreats and several Seasonal Activities.

 

Compassion ministry

  • In His Name ministry team visits the hurting and/or alone to encourage, pray for, and provide Communion and assistance when needed. Includes cards & phone calls.

  • Visitation to local hospital, Nursing Home and/or in-home bringing comfort and encouragement to residents. We match your gifts with the type of visit and the person while you work up your schedule. This is the easiest and most rewarding service one can do for Christ; see James 1:27.
