ANSWER: DCC Men’s Ministry’s 3, 2 or 1 Day Short-term Mission Trip to

The Christian Children’s Home of Ohio in Wooster.

DCC has supported the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio for many years.  CCHO does great work in bringing healing to hurting children and families….in Jesus’ name.  For info about CCHO, visit http://www.christianfamilysupport.net.  You can now be a part of their ministry on-site!  They have 2 needs right now that DCC’s Men’s Ministry would like to take care of.  They are as follows:

·         Build a picnic pavilion for their Equestrian Ministry.   As part of healing, CCHO uses horses to minister to children.  The ministry is open to the children who stay at the home and to handicapped, as well as other children from the Wayne county area.  CCHO is in need of a place to feed the kids and get them under shade for teaching.

·         Rehab two wooden play structures.  Getting outside and playing is very important to the kids at CCHO!  Their wooden play structures are in need of repair.  Broken pieces will be removed and new pieces will be fitted.  We also plan to stain the structures.  If there are enough funds, we would like to provide the gravel or mulch around the bases.  The existing mulch and gravel are very lacking.

TRIP INFO:

·         Where: CCHO is located just north of Wooster, Ohio…about 2 hours from DCC.

·         Date(s): Thursday, Friday & Saturday, October 27th-29th

·         You can work 3, 2 or 1 Day(s): While we’d love to have you there all 3 days, we know that may not be possible.  Therefore, you’ll be able to pick working all 3 days, 2 days or just one day.  All you need to do is schedule the days.  FYI…the major pavilion construction will take place on Thursday and Friday.  Painting, raking gravel or mulch, and work on the wooden play structures will tend to happen more on Friday and Saturday.

·         Cost of trip: Full mission trip cost is $ 150, or $ 50 per day.  All the costs, at least to this point, will go to cover our construction costs.  NOTE: We need to raise $ 3,000+!  If you are new to short-term mission trips, it is customary for a mission team to cover the construction costs of the project they are doing.

·         Raising support: If you need help w/ money, we totally understand and can help.  Just let me know, and I’ll share a letter you can send to raise support for your trip.

·         Lodging: CCHO has a worship center which has 2 nice large rooms w/ bunk beds, showers & a  large kitchen.

·         Meals: We’ll be accepting donations of meals and money for food from the congregation.

·         When to arrive: The best plan is to arrive the night before your first work day (i.e. if you plan to start work on  Thursday, you’d go up Wednesday night).  You also have the option of driving up early, but it is a 2 hour trip from DCC.

·         Car and/or van pooling: We’ll do our best to line up rides so we don’t waste a bunch of gas!

·         Trip conclusion: This is tough….my guess would be between 5 to 7 Saturday night.  You can leave when you want though.

·         Questions or to express interest: E-mail me ASAP at jimb@discovercc.org

.  Thanks!

·         Initial 15 minute Team Meeting: September 18th, immediately after church in the Chapel.  Come even if you are unsure of your availability!

Men….Could You Use a Little Home Improvement Help?

QUEST FOR AUTHENTIC MANHOOD
Men, would you like to be a better dad, husband and/or single guy? If so, check out the upcoming Men’s Fraternity study, The Quest for Authentic ManhoodThis 24 week study will be held at DCC on Sunday nights from 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm, starting September 11th, in Room 208.   Please note the timing…..you can bring your kids in for Sunday night children’s and teen activities, and then stay for Authentic Manhood!    We'll meet in Room 208.

The Quest for Authentic Manhood is the foundational level or ground floor of manhood. This 24-session study focuses on a man's core identity and gives an overview of basic manhood issues. It will help men deal with various identity issues by looking back at past wounds and other things that may have distorted their idea of biblical masculinity. Throughout the course of the study, men will learn how to clearly define manhood and will finally be able to give a succinct and passionate answer to the questions, "What is a man?" and "What am I living to be?"
